On the first day of the Lunar New Year (January 29th), 2025, the Guangzhou Bai'e Tan Spring Festival Fireworks Show will be grandly launched in Bai'e Tan. Since the opening of reservations on January 20th at 2 PM, the anticipation of citizens and tourists for the Spring Festival fireworks show has become even more fervent. On January 21st, a reporter interviewed Guangzhou Jinyi Planning and Communication Center Co., Ltd. and Liuyang Apple Art Fireworks Co., Ltd., which are responsible for the fireworks show, to reveal many highlights of the event.
Xu Jianmin, technical consultant and overall fireworks effects planner of Liuyang Apple Art Fireworks Co., Ltd., introduced that a total of 153,800 fireworks will be set off this year. Compared to last year's 7 fireworks boats, 4 more have been added this year, for a total of 11 fireworks boats (platforms). The layout has also been optimized, with 8 fireworks platforms 238 meters long in the front and 3 fireworks boats in the back. Xu Jianmin explained that this layout is to build upon last year's magnificent high-altitude effects, using platforms with unlimited firing angles to supplement mid-to-low altitude effects, forming a dual layout. This also expands the width of the fireworks display from 500 meters to 650 meters, resulting in a wider viewing area and a more spectacular effect.
The reporter also learned that this year's fireworks show has carefully designed many special effects, such as colorful auspicious clouds, welcoming pines, and falling rainbows, which are very artistic. Incorporating Guangdong's local characteristics, the show will also feature some ascending fireworks, such as the words or shapes of "2025 Guangzhou Happy New Year," lychees, and kapok flowers continuously rising, with Guangzhou elements illuminating the night sky.
The drone show before the fireworks display is equally spectacular. Zhang Jiantao, general manager of Guangzhou Jinyi Planning and Communication Center Co., Ltd., revealed that during the 2025 drone performance, 10 to 15 minutes of congratulatory messages will be displayed in rotation, creating a lively atmosphere for the show. In addition, a Bai'e Tan Greater Bay Area Art Center light show has been added, showcasing scenes of the Greater Bay Area, Guangdong, Guangzhou, and Liwan's cultural and humanistic features on the exterior walls of the center. The light show will be interspersed as warm-up segments during the four chapters of the fireworks show and will also be performed at the end to warmly "send off" the citizens and tourists as they leave in an orderly manner. It is reported that this light show is also the most magnificent and grand light show since the opening of the Bai'e Tan Greater Bay Area Art Center.
It is worth mentioning that this year's fireworks show emphasizes green fireworks. Zhang Jiantao said: "In response to the national 'dual carbon' action call, we have achieved 'carbon neutrality' in some scenes in terms of fireworks setting off, fuel consumption of fireworks boats, and electricity consumption of the light show."
